Ice hockey in the Alps Hockey League, playing at the Ke Kelit Arena in the middle of Zell am See, the club having been founded in 1928. Winter fixtures, a small rink, cheap tickets and a largely local crowd.

A 1.9km swim starting and finishing at the Seespitz lido in Schüttdorf, a 90km bike with 870m of climbing over the Filzen saddle, and a half marathon run twice along the lake to Thumersbach. Held at the end of August; the next edition is 29 August 2027.

The home ski area directly above the town, reached by cable car from Zell am See itself. It is a mid-sized mountain, so it is normally combined with the Kitzsteinhorn glacier on a joint pass rather than skied alone for a week.

The glacier above Kaprun, topping out at 3,029m, where the season starts earliest and finishes latest in the region. In summer there is an ice arena at the top, usually open until early September.

There is no professional football club in the Pinzgau. The nearest Bundesliga side is FC Red Bull Salzburg at the Red Bull Arena in Wals-Siezenheim, about an hour and a half away by train to Salzburg plus a local bus.
