The things worth doing in Innsbruck, from the obvious landmarks to the ones locals actually rate.
Nordkette cable cars
Old town to 2,269m in 25 minutes, on Zaha Hadid stations. Hafelekar has a ridge walk and a near-vertical view of the city.
Goldenes Dachl
Innsbruck's emblem: a gilded oriel built so Maximilian I could watch tournaments in the square. Small museum inside.
Hofkirche black knights
28 oversized bronze figures standing guard over Maximilian's empty tomb. The strangest, best room in Tyrol.
Schloss Ambras
Renaissance castle holding the original Habsburg cabinet of curiosities and the Spanish Hall. Daily 10am-5pm, shut in November.
Markthalle food market
Tyrolean cheese, bread and produce in a riverside hall by the Inn, with cheap counter lunches. Closed Sundays.
