The city's large budget hostel, a few minutes' walk from the main station and a short tram ride from Hauptplatz, with dorms and private rooms. Book through the chain's own site rather than a reseller.

One zone covers the whole city and its trams, buses and S-Bahn. Under the tariff valid from 1 July 2026 an hour ticket is €3.30, a 24-hour ticket €7.20 and a week €20.80; buy at machines, in the app or at a Trafik.

The university canteens run by Österreichische Mensen serve a hot lunch on weekdays and are open to the public, not only students — you simply pay the non-student rate. It is the cheapest cooked meal in Graz.

The staircase from Schloßbergplatz climbs the hill for nothing, while the lift and the funicular both charge. The Stadtpark, the Mur banks and Acconci's Murinsel are free too, which covers most of a day without spending anything.

Hostel dorm roughly €25–35, a Mensa lunch under €10, a 24-hour transit ticket €7.20, a half-litre of beer about €4.50–5. Call it €55–70 a day if you shop at the markets; a single museum ticket adds €10–15 on top.
